Sunday Study Groups
Fall 2011: "Sound Doctrine: Foundations of Christian
Belief Through Music"
Sunday Mornings, 9:30am-10:30am
At church in the classroom next to the English Sanctuary
From September 18th through November 13th (8 sessions)
In this weekly, interactive study group, we will examine eight different core, foundational areas of
Christian doctrine through song and study. Each week, we will listen to and discuss a musical piece
(a hymn, a praise song, gospel music, Christian rock, etc.) that sheds light on a fundamental
aspect of Christian belief. We'll tackle big, heavy-sounding theological topics like "Soteriology" (the
doctrine of salvation) and "Eschatology" (what we believe about the fulfillment of all things), and
stuff like that, but we'll break things down in understandable, applicable ways.
This group is open to all ages, from junior high students to adults. Parts of our study will be done
all together, and for other parts we will break into an "introductory" group and a "take me deeper"
group. The main text for all of us will be Mark Driscoll and Gary Breashears' Doctrine: What
Christians Should Believe, but participants in the "take me deeper" group will be invited to study
other systematic theologies to supplement their learning.

Coming in Winter 2011: Studying Jesus, Practicing His Way
A study of the incarnation, life, ministry, and passion of Jesus, and a shared practice of following
His way in our lives. We will study the Gospels along with NT Wright and Tim Keller, and develop
practices along with Mark Scandrette.
